The General Assembly of Additive Manufacturing (3D printing) Branch of Guangdong Mechanical Engineering Society was successfully held in Guangzhou

On October 22, 2023, the General Assembly of Additive Manufacturing (3D printing) Branch of Guangdong Provincial Mechanical Engineering Society and the 2023 Additive Manufacturing Academic Annual Meeting was held in Guangzhou. The meeting was sponsored by the Additive Manufacturing (3D printing) branch of Guangdong Provincial Mechanical Engineering Society and hosted by the Institute of New Materials of Guangdong Academy of Sciences. Academician Zhou Kesong of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, President Chen Weimin and Vice President Liu Min of the Guangdong Academy of Sciences, President Liu Wenqing of the Guangdong Open University, Professor Liu Yihua, Executive Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the Guangdong Mechanical Engineering Society, Researcher Li Yaotang, the first Chairman of the Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing) Branch of the Guangdong Mechanical Engineering Society, and Deng Changguang, Party Secretary of the Institute of New Materials of the Guangdong Academy of Sciences.

Mr. Chen Weimin, President of Guangdong Academy of Sciences, and Mr. Deng Changguang, Secretary of Institute of New Materials, Guangdong Academy of Sciences, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. In his speech, President Chen Weimin affirmed the importance of additive manufacturing, clearly pointed out that additive manufacturing as a strategic emerging industry, the future development space is huge, and also said that the Guangdong Academy of Sciences will continue to support the research and development of additive manufacturing technology, and work closely with all sectors of society to jointly promote the development of additive manufacturing industry in Guangdong Province and the country.

Mr. Li Yaotong, Chairman of the first Council of the Additive Manufacturing Branch, made a summary report on the work and financial situation of the first Council. Under the auspices of senior Engineer Zhao Guanghua, the first secretary general of the Additive Manufacturing Branch, the Additive Manufacturing Branch of the Guangdong Provincial Mechanical Engineering Society conducted a change of election, under the deliberation and voting of the representatives at the meeting, passed the second Council election method and the general assembly of the vote supervisor, vote supervisor and tally list, and finally elected the second council members of the additive Manufacturing branch.

According to the election results, Yan Xingchen, director of the Institute of New Materials of Guangdong Academy of Sciences, served as the chairman, and Dr. Chang Cheng, Director of the Institute of New Materials of Guangdong Academy of Sciences, served as the Secretary-General. Professor Zhang Qingmao of South China Normal University, Professor Liu Bin and Professor Wang Di of South China University of Technology, Professor Wu Shanghua of Guangdong University of Technology, Chairman Liu Jianyang of Guangdong Hanbang Laser Technology Co., LTD., Vice President Jin Feng of Guangdong Fenghua Zhuoli Technology Co., LTD., Zhao Guanghua of Guangzhou Electronic Technology Co., LTD., 22 people served as vice chairman. Associate Professor Han Changjun from South China University of Technology and Senior Engineer Lu Bingwen from Institute of New Materials of Guangdong Academy of Sciences served as deputy Secretary-General, and 54 people were elected as directors, including Professor Huang Hongtao from Sun Yat-sen University, Researcher Song Changhui from South China University of Technology, Professor Guo Liang from South China Normal University, Associate Professor Yan Ming from Southern University of Science and Technology, and Researcher Sheng Liyuan from Shenzhen Institute of Peking University.

The conference also invited Liu Min, Vice president of Guangdong Academy of Sciences, and Liu Bin, Professor of South China University of Technology, to make special presentations. Among them, Liu Min, vice president of the report entitled "Guangdong Province laser and additive manufacturing industry Development status", detailed introduction of domestic and foreign, Guangdong Province and the provincial Academy of Sciences in the field of laser and additive manufacturing industry status and technological progress. Professor Liu Bin's report, titled "Discussion on the Forward Design Method based on Additive Thinking", introduced in detail the new method and new concept of the forward design of parts with additive manufacturing technology as the core. The content of the two reports was wonderful, applause continued, and they were warmly discussed by the participants.

Founded in 1958, Guangdong Mechanical Engineering Society is an academic social organization and trade organization of cross-departmental and cross-industry mechanical engineering science and technology workers in Guangdong Province, and a component of Guangdong Science and Technology Association. It is subject to the business guidance of Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society and guides the work of mechanical engineering societies in various cities. The membership covers institutions of higher learning, higher vocational colleges and research institutes in the field of mechanical engineering in Guangdong Province, as well as equipment manufacturing enterprises of mechanical, electrical, control engineering and automation, etc., which is one of the largest engineering organizations within the Guangdong Science and Technology Association system. The Additive Manufacturing Branch of the Mechanical Engineering Society is one of the 21 professional branches under the Guangdong Mechanical Engineering Society, which was established in September 2017 and has more than 70 members.
